What’s New, What’s Free, What’s Hot?

Now that we are in a bigger location, with a studio, we are able to offer a wide variety of classes for individuals with neurological conditions.  Classes are a great way to work on functional goals with certified therapists at affordable rates.  Here is a list of our classes with descriptions and prices below.

“Mindful Sensations” by StudioBE – 8-week (post-concussion > 4 months) – Mondays at 1:00

Therapeutic Singing – Thursdays at 2:00 in November only
Speech and Language – Wednesdays at 2:00 in November only
FAME – Fitness and Mobility Exercise – post-stroke Saturdays at 12:00

Yoga “Calming the Nervous System” – Wednesdays at 5:30
Yoga Therapy for Pelvic Health – Saturdays at 9:00
FAME – Fitness and Mobility Exercise – post-stroke – Tue/Thu at 11:00

PWR Moves! – Parkinson’s – Mon/Wed/Fri at 9:00 and Thur at 3:00
Balance class – Tue/Thu at 9:00

“Mindful Sensations” by StudioBE
This 8-week workshop is for individuals living with persistent sensory overload post-concussion.
“Mindful sensations” integrates mindfulness with sensory regulation in order to enhance daily function and well-being for those with persistent sensory overload. The workshop will include education, experiential learning, reflection and group discussion.
Neuromotion Physiotherapy is very excited to be partnering with Studio BE and hosting this amazing workshop!
When: Mondays, November 18th – January 13th (No session December 30th)

Therapeutic Singing class with Carmen Eisenhauer, NMT
This class will be led by our wonderful neurological music therapist, Carmen.  She will be using music and singing to help individuals with neurological conditions work on improving their voice projection.
When: November 7, 14, 21 & 28
Time: 2-3pm

Speech and Language class with Andrea Tabaka, MSLP
This class is for anyone with a quiet voice or who has difficulty projecting their voice.  It will be taught by our amazing speech and language pathologist, Andrea.
When: November 6, 13, 20th

“Calming the Nervous System” Yoga with Lynn Dawson, MPT, BScK, ACC.
This yoga class is for anyone affected by a neurological condition that has the ability to get on and off of the floor independently.  You can expect to be doing gentle yoga and mindful movement with a focus on breathing, meditation and relaxation techniques.
When: Wednesdays starting November 13th
Time: 5:30-6:30pm
Cost: $20 drop-in or $100 for 6 weeks.

Yoga Therapy for Pelvic Health with Laura Guido, AT
This yoga class is for those who have difficulty preventing leakages when laughing, coughing or exercising. It is also appropriate for those with lower back/sciatic pain, those who are pregnant or have ever given birth and finally, those who have undergone pelvic surgery.
When: Saturdays
Time: 9:00-10:00am

FAME class “post-stroke” with Kelsey Kowalchuk, BScK
This is a fitness and mobility exercise program for those affected by stroke. The classes focus on strength, balance and walking
When: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays
Time: 11:00-12:00am (Tue & Thur) 12:00-1:00pm (Sat)

PWR Moves! (Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery) with Leanne Erzinger, BScK
PWR is a circuit training class specifically targeted for people with Parkinson’s disease. This exercise class is provided on the basis that “exercise is medicine” for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. Participants can expect to move lots, sweat, laugh and use their voices!
When: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Time: 9:00-10:00am

Balance class with Marlene Nedved, BScK, CSEP-CPT
This class was developed to help individuals with neurological impairments rebuild their balance, strength, and agility. Our balance class is suitable for people with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and post-concussion symptoms who are able to walk on their own.
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 9:00-10:00am

Grasp – upper extremity class with Marlene Nedved BScK, CSEP-CPT
This class is a weekly one-hour exercise class developed to help individuals with neurological impairment rebuild their shoulder, arm and hand function. The class focuses on aerobic training of the upper limb to increase blood flow to affected areas, biomechanical analysis of upper limb movement patterns, education involving habitual uses of the upper limb during activities of daily living, and functional range of motion exercises.
When: Thursdays
Time: 1:00-2:00pm

Concussion class with Briana May, MPT, Bsc, CSCS, IMS
A physiotherapy treatment program designed for people experiencing symptoms post-concussion or post mild traumatic brain injury. This is a circuit training class where individuals spend 5 minutes at each station. Each station will focus on various skills, such as vision, balance, core stability, cognitive activities, cardio and mindful meditation. Improving these skills can be vital to recovery following concussion or mild brain injury.
When: Thursdays
