OT Reg. (BC), MOT, B.A.

Registered Occupational Therapist

Stephanie was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She graduated with distinction from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, minor in Psychology, in 2011. Stephanie completed her Master of Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Manitoba in 2013. Upon graduation, Stephanie moved to Swift Current Saskatchewan to cover a term as the sole charge Occupational Therapist at Cypress Regional Hospital, in charge of inpatients, outpatients, and rural communities and Long-Term Care facilities east of Swift Current.

She then moved to Saskatoon Saskatchewan in 2014 and worked at the Royal University Hospital, one of Saskatchewan’s main trauma centers and teaching hospital. This is where Stephanie’s passion for working with the neurological population began as she worked on the neurology/neurosurgery ward and participated in the Stroke Distinction Accreditation Canada process for the Acute Stroke Unit in 2017.

In 2018, Stephanie moved to the Adult Inpatient Rehabilitation Program at Saskatoon City Hospital after a young stroke patient helped her realize that she wanted to help people progress with their functional goals beyond the acute care setting. Stephanie worked with clients from Saskatoon and communities north of Saskatoon (to the NWT border) on the Stroke/Acquired Brain Injury team. She participated in the Rehabilitation Quality and Safety Council, as well as the Rehab Patient and Family Advisory Council to support continual program improvement in collaboration with clients and families.

Stephanie is a passionate advocate for her clients, a cheerleader and problem-solver, and always looking to improve her skillset to better serve the neurological population. Stephanie looks at the person (their physical, cognitive, perceptual, and emotional abilities), their occupations/activities (in self-care, productivity, and leisure), and their physical and social environment, to enable meaningful participation in everyday life.

Stephanie is new to Victoria, is in her 14th season of playing rugby, enjoys olympic weightlifting, CrossFit, Muay Thai, hiking, camping, and travelling internationally to explore other cultures and foods.
